Actress Laura Dern and her 19-year-old daughter Jaya Harper are being featured together in a first-ever brand campaign for French luxury accessories brand Roger Vivier’s Mother’s Day project.
The images are sweet, nurturing and intimate, photographed by L.A.-based photographer, director and writer Luke Gilford, who has directed campaigns for Valentino, Apple and Mercedes Benz — as well as music videos for Kesha and Christina Aguilera.
Both Dern and Harper are wearing some of Roger Vivier’s most iconic creations in the images, like the 1965 Belle Vivier shoe, a brand classic, and the brand’s creative director Gherardo Felloni’s Viv’ Choc handbag, along with jewel-encrusted satin headbands, an embroidered waistcoat and a patent leather belt.
Felloni first met Harper when Dern took her to a 2022 Roger Vivier dinner in Los Angeles. Clicking instantly, Felloni says he was drawn to the young actress’ talent, her beauty and her character. “Choosing the final images after this shoot was extremely difficult because they were all so good,” adds Felloni.
Gilford and Felloni sought to capture the likeness between the mother and daughter duo, along with iconic Roger Vivier products, and how grace and sophistication can be passed down through generations. The campaign’s aim is to showcase classic beauty intertwined with contemporary sensibilities, and show how style can be passed down while still maintaining its relevance.

Dern, in a campaign statement, says she’s long loved the brand. “I bought my first pair of Belle Vivier shoes in Paris many, many years ago, and have been in love with the house ever since. Collaborating with Jaya on this campaign has been an incredibly special experience as it was an occasion to celebrate, together and for the first time, our shared love for fashion.”

Adds Harper, in campaign notes, “This is my first brand campaign, and collaborating with my mother on it has been an extraordinary experience that will undoubtedly be treasured. I am immensely grateful to Gherardo for inviting me to participate in this project, where I had the privilege of showcasing legendary Roger Vivier designs like the Belle Vivier.”

Harper was born into an entertainment family, with an Academy Award-winning mother in Dern and Grammy-winning father in Ben Harper, as well as grandparents Diane Ladd, Bruce Dern and singer-songwriter Ellen Harper. So it should be no surprise that Jaya Harper is pursuing acting, though in a 2022 appearance on The Ellen Show, Laura Dern noted it was important for her that her daughter finish school and have a normal childhood. With Ben Harper, Dern also has son, Ellery Walker Harper, who is musician.

Dern currently stars in the new series Palm Royale on Apple TV+ and is set for a role opposite Glen Powell and Anthony Mackie in the legal drama Monsanto.
